Seventh National Energy Plan (2015-2030)

MINAE, the entity of the Costa Rican government responsible for managing the energy sector, will be released the Seventh National Energy Plan (2015-2030) in September 2015, in an effort that challenges the proper integration and balance of contributions, provided by national actors and all stakeholders involved in the dialogue table ( Electricity, Transport and Fuel). The Vice- Minister of Energy, Mrs. Irene Cañas, with a hopeful message, spoke of a National Energy Plan which may be institutionalized. The challenge, said Mr. Jose Belfort, CEO of VERTEX and representative of Forum Future and Energy, are the risks that this project (Strategic Plan) imposes: Very complicated and complex sectoral areas that requires managing interests and expectations very careful, an art not dominated in CR unfortunately Historical gap between policies and strategies; the Central Government power is vulnerable and maintains specific knowledge gaps that could make a difference Portfolio of National Energy Plan projects and its proper management is key and involves developing new basic skills to specific knowledge and experience. Is the need for a roadmap to propose viability of the National Energy Plan to resolve at least in part the current institutional fragmentation in Costa Rica. VERTEX´s representative, Mr. Belfort, brings knowledge and experience to make this call an opportunity for the country, whose lessons learned will be used to boost development in other areas....

VERTEX in National Dialogue for Transportation and Fuels

The Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), an entity of the Costa Rican government responsible for managing the energy sector of Costa Rica convened for the second phase of the national dialogue for Transportation and Fuels, which was attended by Eng. José Belfort, CEO of VERTEX, representing the Forum on Energy and Future. This was a 6 week process, in which more than 100 people from 60 different institutions, organizations, businesses and chambers participated in order to: Promote the protection of the environment, with respect to energy as well as to encourage friendly relations between stakeholders, civil society included Promote the development of energy resources in the context of prioritizing projects, meeting demand, as well as the employment of alternative energy in the process of diversification. In line with VERTEX values, Mr. Belfort remained passionate call for the VII National Energy Plan (2015-2030) responds to the critical success factors for a better Costa Rica; those critical things to be done in order to assure this country will be in better energy and social conditions, so for different outcomes it is very important to learn how to do things differently. To bring about and develop a process planning for this sector and its institutions, as well as the efficient and effective administration of resources for a better environment....
